Nonresidents' investments in Israel, and Israelis' investments abroad in August 2010
Nonresidents sold shares and increased their investment in bonds on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE)
Investment in Israeli shares: In August 2010 nonresidents sold a net $90 million of Israeli shares traded on the TASE, and also sold about $110 million of Israeli shares traded abroad.
Bonds: In August nonresidents’ net investment in Israeli government bonds and makam (short-term Bank of Israel bills) traded on the TASE totaled about $280 million.
Nonresidents' direct investment: In August nonresidents invested a net $350 million in Israel via the banks, most of which was in the high-tech and bio-tech industries.
Institutional investors increased their investments abroad
Shares: In August 2010 Israelis invested about $400 million net in foreign shares traded abroad: institutional investors increased their investments from $160 million in July to some $270 million in August, with households investing an additional $150 million.
Bonds: Israelis invested a net $270 million of foreign bonds in August 2010, $180 million of which was by institutional investors.
Direct investments abroad: In August Israelis made net direct investments abroad totaling about $126 million.
