Banking Supervision: Bank-Customer Division

Banking consumer issues? You’ve come to the right place!

The banking sector is one of the most important sectors in the Israeli economy; it affects each and every one of us. One of the most important duties of the Banking Supervision Department, along with maintaining the banking system’s stability, is upholding customers’ rights and ensuring that banks and credit card companies treat their customers fairly.

At the Bank–Customer Division, part of the Banking Supervision Department, we consider the banking sector a full-fledged consumer sector. Therefore, we take action at various levels to bolster the customer’s status.

In the course of these actions, we handle complaints from bank customers, provide customers with consumer information, act to arrange consumer legislation, simplify banking products, enhance transparency, encourage competitiveness in the banking system, and educate in consumer awareness, among other things. We do all this by means of the Bank–Customer Division's Public Enquiries and Bank Fees Unit, Legislation and Regulation Unit, and Drawers of Checks Without Cover Section, which are at your service.

  • Public Enquiries Unit—receives complaints about banks or credit card companies and provides information on banking matters.
  • Legislation and Regulation Unit—issues procedures, directives and regulation to banks, carries out compliance checks, and acts to enhance consumer information.
  • Drawers of Checks without Cover Section—provides information about restricted accounts and customers and receives enquiries on the topic.
