From today the Bank of Israel will publish the minutes of the interest-rate discussions

From today the Bank of Israel will publish the minutes of the discussions regarding the determination of the interest rate. The minutes will be published about two weeks after the announcement of the interest rate.

The publication of the minutes of the interest-rate discussions, in the format adopted by the central banks of the advanced economies throughout the world, is intended to increase the transparency of the Bank's interest-rate policy. The Bank of Israel is currently engaged in promoting the new Bank of Israel Law, which among other things defines internal and external control mechanisms for the Bank, and will make transparency obligatory, while at the same time ensuring the Bank's essential professional independence. This is another step towards the implementation of this policy and will enable the public, the Knesset and the government to deepen their understanding of the Bank of Israel's interest-rate policy.
The public was invited to submit comments and suggestions for improving the way the minutes are presented.
The final format for the minutes will be determined in the light of feedback received from the public.
