Bank of Israel Governor Prof. Amir Yaron today announced his decision to appoint Ms. Shulamit Geri to the position of Director General of the Bank of Israel. Ms. Geri will take up the position on September 21, 2020, when outgoing Director General Mr. Hezi Kalo steps down. The Governor made the decision after interviewing a small number of candidates that were proposed for his examination by the search committee led by the Deputy Governor.
Ms. Shulamit Geri has served until recently as Vice President of Administration and Finance at the Weizmann Institute of Science. As part of her position, she managed the Institute, which has about 2,000 students and about 1,700 graduate students. Geri managed significant budgets and led large projects in the areas of infrastructure and building, purchasing, streamlining, and business continuity. In her previous position, she served as the Weizmann Institute’s legal counsel, after establishing the Institute’s legal office. In addition, as part of her position, she was a member of a number of Board of Directors committees, the Weizmann Institute’s investment committee, and the administrative board of the Davidson Institute for Science Education. Before that, she served as an attorney in the civilian commercial field at law firms and in the private market.
. She lives in Tel Aviv, and is married with three daughters.
