The Termination Date for the Position of the Supervisor of Banks and the Entry of the New Supervisor Will be Deferred to May 17
In view of the development of the
coronavirus event and its ramifications, and the Bank of Israel’s shift to working
in an emergency format, Governor of the Bank of Israel Prof. Amir Yaron has
decided, in coordination with Supervisor of Banks Dr. Hedva Ber and incoming
Supervisor Yair Avidan, that Dr. Ber will defer the termination date of her
position to May 17, 2020, when Yair Avidan will take on the position, after an
overlap period of several weeks. The deferral will allow both continuous
dealing with the crisis as well as a professional and appropriate transfer of
responsibility, given the existing reality.
Governor of the Bank of Israel
Prof. Amir Yaron said, “We are in a particularly unique period, and it is
important to maintain administrative and operational continuity by the Bank of
Israel and the Banking Supervision Department. I thank Hedva and Yair for their
willingness to carry out the adjustments required to do so.”
