The obverse side of the coin is dedicated to the Ammunition Hill. A view of the meandering trenches along with the site's distinctive topography and characteristic vegetation. face value and mint year in English and Hebrew, and the Star of David mintmark. The lower border is inscribed with the gold fineness and weight, and the upper border, with the word "Jerusalem" in English, Hebrew and Arabic.

The obverse side is constant in the series, a roaring Lion, found originally on an ancient Israelite seal excavated in Megiddo (Armageddon). Above the lion is the Israel State Emblem and below it “Israel” in English, Hebrew and Arabic.
